Still Cooking with Heart after 15 Years
In May 2011, Bonni and Drew McDonald had a vision of what a neighborhood restaurant could be: a place to gather and enjoy elevated comfort food — served from breakfast through dinner — made with ingredients sourced from local farms. Their dream was realized when they opened The Plaid Apron. Fifteen years later, they're still working hand-in-hand with the same local farmers, still turning out the cinnamon rolls, grits, and almond cakes that guests rave about by name, and hosting intimate wine dinners that turn a great meal into a real occasion. Made from scratch, made with care, every single day.

This place was a recommendation from a friend. Went to visit our daughter from UT on Labor Day weekend and brought her here for brunch. It's in a beautiful neighborhood, great location, lots of parking, indoor and patio seating. Food was very good!

We love to eat local when we travel. The Plaid Apron hit the spot for breakfast in Knoxville. Great bartender, who took time to make personalized recommendations. The special with a sausage loaded pancake was the bomb!!
